Partner Event | Energizing Waste

Green Initiatives  Life without the mountainous landfills where our waste is ultimately disposed is unimaginable. However, during decomposition, these landfills release methane, a greenhouse gas many times more powerful than carbon dioxide and a catalyst of global warming. But, a landfill’s impact can be greatly reduced and even made beneficial with new and effective energy from waste. The energy from waste concept is already being implemented. Currently, 23% of renewable energy comes from energy from waste facilities. That is the equivalent of 726,000 tons of oil. In this forum, you will learn about the current innovative and unique initiatives that are being employed or investigated, recognize the advantages and disadvantages of each, and ultimately understand whether the energy to waste practice makes environmental and economic sense, and if yes, who are leading this radical change.
